Springfield and Overbridge Mills, Salford. August 2010
This c.1845 pair of mill buildings around a courtyard was Grade II listed in 1996.
I only looked at it less than two months ago and it was sealed up quite tightly. The scallys have had a couple of good goes at it from the look of the perimeter hoardings, battered in two places and cable sheathing all over the floor. It would seem to have had a recent history of manipulation at the hands of developers. A 2005 approval by Architects Britch was used to bolster its price on the open market and it was sold in December 2007 and offered again under vacant possession in 2009. Possibly between owners in these hard times, there’s been a fire on site and the floors are pretty dodgy in places. Armed with my new pocketable compact I had a quick squiz round on my own. http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...B/R0010145.jpg outsides http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...B/R0010094.jpg first floor http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...B/R0010095.jpg view across yard http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...B/R0010100.jpg second floor http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...B/R0010101.jpg smaller mill building http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...B/R0010103.jpg view of Salford across the Irwell http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...B/R0010105.jpg third floor http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...B/R0010106.jpg cart http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...B/R0010107.jpg strangeways http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...B/R0010108.jpg fourth floor http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...B/R0010109.jpg loading http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...B/R0010111.jpg crates http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...B/R0010115.jpg trolley http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...B/R0010116.jpg covered alley http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...B/R0010119.jpg main mill http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...B/R0010129.jpg fire exit http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...B/R0010133.jpg filing cabinets http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...B/R0010135.jpg oil http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...B/R0010138.jpg tv + bucket chair http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...B/R0010143.jpg 1950s fit out peace NMB :thumbs |
Nice, don't think I've seen this one explored before, but I oculd be wrong.
Loving that old TV, I think there's one at my grandads TV shop in Bolton somewhere, probably a Bush. |
