Treatment Works, Nr Oldham - April 2010
Treatment Works, (Unamed Ha Ha) - Visited by Ojay + Friend. http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/x...Works/sign.jpg Not naming this one for obvious reasons as the nice people from U.U. might not take to kindly to me visiting their site. Also the same reason for it being posted in Members. Always wanted to visit one of these places and check out the 'works', so I ended up doing 'live' one on this over a week ago, I had to sneak about the shit farm, however didn't get far tho due to the U.U. workmen on site and also didn't have camera etc etc. So I decided to go back later one day for a proper mooch, or that was the intention until about half way round when some guy came outta nowhere on his quad bike and in not so many words asked me to leave!! (I did take a friend with me on this one purely for the people shots, as I only took a crappy compact camera in case I got busted). Good idea .... Anyway below are a few pictures, I will try and get back, as there are some interesting looking out buildings, processors and 'Manholes' which need a further loook ;) Pffft - (Not in here BTW......) http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/x...s/IMG_0086.jpg Part of the shit farm http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/x...orks/pano1.jpg Pumping gear http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/x...s/machine1.jpg Piping the turds http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/x...rks/pipes1.jpg Inside the interceptor http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/x.../turd_tank.jpg Turd streams http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/x...rd_stream2.jpg http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/x...urd_stream.jpg Sewerfresh into here http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/x...s/IMG_0015.jpg http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/x...turd_tank2.jpg http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/x...sewerfresh.jpg Shit spinners http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/x...d_spinner1.jpg http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/x...d_spinner2.jpg Shit tanks http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/x...rks/tanks1.jpg http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/x.../shit_tank.jpg Inside shit tank http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/x...s/big_tank.jpg Reppin' yer treatment works... http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/x...s/Tank_top.jpg http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/x.../climbing1.jpg http://i770.photobucket.com/albums/x.../climbing2.jpg I'll be back ;) |

What for?? |
Sewage works are a prime target for pikeys. I know of a few instances where pikeys have broken into sewage plants and not only robbed cable but large pieces of machinery. Runcorn sewage works looks like a concentration camp with razor wire along the fences and across the tops of the (well locked) main gates - all that's missing are the watch towers.
There's also the problem of 'elf'n'safety hysteria although speaking from experience falling into a settlement tank is very unlikely to do you any harm as long as you can swim. The risk of serious disease is minimal with bad guts abut the worst and I didn't even suffer that. No hassles getting into the site when I explored it thirty years ago. I suppose that as basic major infrastructure sewage plants are also now regarded to be possible terrorist targets - the ultimate "dirty bomb"?! |
