Visited with the undertaker after rain called off play on a small culvert explore that we had planned.

A part of The previously existing Marchon Chemical works site is Sandwith Anhydrite Mine. Opened in 1953 to provide a base for making sulphuric acid, anhydrite was then moved along to another part of the plant where the acid was made. further info available here

And closed in 1984 then sealed from both adit and ventilation portal in 1991.

originally I was informed that the left hand adit was accessible through the wall but contained water about thigh height, unfortunately this proved not to be the case :thumbd
