Default Mayfield Station - 07-05-2011, 11:21

This abandoned and derelict train station exist next door to Manchester Picadilly station but few people realize it's there.

Like many places Mayfield has been explored by several people but I couldn't resist paying it a visit myself when presented with an opportunity. Unfortunately I didn't get to spend as long here as I would have liked because i was spotted by a Network Rail guard and told to clear off!

For an account of the history of the site and the future plans being considered by the powers that be please see the wiki site:

Love the pics, you've got some great shots there. I know this place has been done loads of times but it's still a place i plan to visit in the near future.

Would this place still be under the jurisdiction of the transport police?

Only if the property is Network Rail owned, which this is not - British Rail Board Residuary owns it (BRB) - who also own all the abandoned tunnels & viaducts, etc.

Although its still a bit of a grey area coz of its proximity to the Mainline & Piccadilly station, so it seems you get accosted if caught in there.
