Default A few high places - Liverpool and Birkenhead docks. Oct 2011. - 08-10-2011, 19:14

well its been a while.
cossienick and myself have had a summer of mountainbiking and now the bad weather has drawn in again were exploring again!

decided to start in Liverpool last night. took a quick pic of the big wheel...

then moved onto the Stanley Dock tower.

been done many times so wont go into history of the place, but do be warned of the big hole at the top!
the wind was blowing very hard too which made photos difficult. the tripods wouldnt stay still.....

then we drove round to Birkenhead.
we started with the Caisson. a kind of floating damn / dock. from what i can gather its used for blocking the dock entrances to lower the water level behind it....

i didnt notice till cossienick pointed it out, but there was a ship wreck below us...

at the side of the caisson is the Central Hydraulic tower. it was getting late by this time, so we were just gonna have a quick mooch around to see if we could see access, and come back another night. i was up for work at 6.
we found access, along with 3 28DL members climbing in it. unsure who jumped the most.

so, with thanks to them, we were shown the safe route to the top, and i got home at 2.30am...

views from the top..

a good nights explore!
