Default Round Barn Quarry - 10-07-2011, 17:55

I only found out recently that this place existed so I thought a mooch was in order.

Situated on the Roman Road between Darwen and Edgworth the spoil heaps dominate the horizon and was obviously a very big operation once over.

I haven't been able to find any history of the place, all I know is that it used to be a sandstone quarry but isn't any more.

Anyhoo, a few pics.

Some of the underground stuff.

Then I came across this

AAARRGG!!! Witches at work...I'm out of here.

I wouldn't travel mega miles too see this place, but worth a look if you're in the area.

There's a good few hundred yards of passages but they are cut in a grid formation so you are never very far in.
