Hooked up with Romanian1 for a tour of the air raid shelters in Stockport yesterday, cheers for that mate. The second lot was right by the old portal for Tiviot Dale tunnel so a good way to finish the day, which had started being chased by a hurd of cows across a field after grabbing some shots of a pillbox!

Tiviot Dale tunnel in Stockport, part of the CLC Woodley to Skelton Junction line, closed in 1967. On Dodge Hill above is a old Church andim told due to subsidence in the land this series of girders was put inplace to protect it. The rest of the tunnel is back filled apart from this 75 aprox yards near the center. There is another tunnel,Wellington Street along the same line under the A6

West Portal, the eastern portal aint really much of a view due to a bridge being built right infront of it so all you can really see is a fence but the old portal beyond that will be the same i reckon

Looking back towards the portal once the backfill drops down you can see what is the start of metal struts to support the ceiling

I thought from the first pic this was the under the A6 tunnel as it has a similiar fence post missing, i've been down the a6 one but it gets very narrow very quickly and stinks of tramps :p when me a and Havoc were looking for Stuart Street and The Rock airraid shelters last year we came accross the other opening of the A6 tunnel which was overgrown and I think bricked up, it exits in the old kwiksave car park.

This one I have never been down, some interesting supports I like it

thats the chap! been open for well over 15 years that one, the end you did i've never seen the fence post popped on which explains how "clean" it is down there :)

went here a few months ago but we entered through the opposide side over the fence. Was really shocked to see the metal structure in the middle and how huge it was. you had to stoop quite a bit at the begining so was suprise when it opened up.
