When i was an apprentice with Manchester council in the early 70's there were several baths around the city just like this one
One that springs to mind was Baker Street baths in Ancoats
very similar to this one apart from upstairs you had bath house's
large cubicles of Mahogany and etched glass inside each one was a huge porcelain tub with a huge chromed brass standpipe set up at the end to fill them up they had attendants who brought you towels and soap etc
I think Baker Street had two pools as there was a Womens and a Gentlemens entrance
in the basement there was a large public wash house with wringers and mangles washing machines and dryers etc I'm pretty sure there was also a steam bath It was in effect the center of that community and was always very busy !
