I'm also considering hanging my harness up for good.

I'm learning... I just need to get time to actually do it.

FWIW, I'm not the most trusting of people when it comes to a potential Squishy death at the bottom of something, but I have never had a reason to doubt EWJ's methods. OK, it's not quite as it should be, but I bet you it never happens again with Dom. And as a result of this, I now know to hang a Y in a situation like that.

I've seen Life on a Line recommended, any other books I need to stick my nose into?

But if it saves your life every penny is worth it.

Arent you a member of north wales cave rescue?

If so they should have people that can train you up to cave rescue standards and am guessing wont charge you

I have a few on Alpine rope techniques that are very good and some ones on basic caving skills which are always good to browse over every now and then to refresh your memory.

Life on a line will give you all the knowledge you need for knots, gear and rigging

I'm not a member yet but it's in the pipeline.

As for the rope course, It's something I've been thinking about for a while. If I'm going to be involved with NWCRO it'll be very useful.

As for any more rope play, I'm going to put it on hold for the time being.

I was a little cross but I realise that you guys are just concerned..

Ah kk yeah would defo be worth while but I would speak to them first as they may be able to do a training course for you. I know DCRO offer training and they are coming over to train some members of the DCC soon on rescue techniques.

Sorry if I offended but as you say just concerned and dont like to see people risking them selves needlessly.

It's not my specialist subject, but I came across this video, which compares Dymeena and Nylon slings.

Dymeena v Nylon

You didn't offend my ED. I am going to hang my harness up until I've been retrained.

I'll just stick to taking photos I'm not going to kill anybody doing that.

I've bitten the bullet and I've made an enquiry about rope access courses.

I'm not giving up the exploring, I'd rather loss my life than some else's.

I am not a hero!

If I had done something great and noble then I maybe, possibly be classed, nice or likeable but never a hero.
